Post 1 – Requirements and Parameters

The Last Battle: Le Dernier Combat is a 1983 post-apocalyptic French film. One small survivor of the apocalypse clashes into a larger opponent inside an abandoned building, they have a small fight before the scene is cut, consisting of footsteps and multiple attacks from weapons.

The section of film I am editing is 0:00-0:58

Kicking Metal.jpg

Along with the footsteps a small can is kicked along the floor, this can be easily created by doing the same action on a similar surface.

Scuffling on Gravel (2)

This can yet again be recreated by doing the same actions as the actor, and shifting along a dusty concrete floor or gravel with boots. Another sound to be created is the rubbing of clothes and armour that can be created by walking with metal clanging and the rub of leather.

Banging Metal (3).jpg

Hitting two metal objects together can recreate this easy sound to make.

Heavy Breathing (4).jpg

Having a voice actor move and breathe the same as the actual actor but closer to the mic would create better quality audio.

Broken Bones (5).jpg

This would be slightly difficult to recreate as we cant cause harm to the actor, therefore we would need an artificial effect such as celery snapping to create a broken bone sound effect.

Falling (6).jpg

This can yet again be recreated by recording the sound of someone slipping and falling on gravel/concrete.

Metal on Concrete (7).jpg

Hitting a slab of metal (of a similar size to the actual prop in the film) against a concrete block can easily and realistically create this sound effect.

Bricks Smashing (8).jpg

Creating this sound effect without added sounds would be difficult as this would need to be recorded outside, however it could be possible to hit the bricks and drop the bricks then combine the two sounds.

  1. Well done, Corey. This is a good piece of work. To elevate your grade, say in some cases what kinds of props you might use. You might also want to discuss options for post-production, what you will do to treat or edit the sounds.
